Sports Events and Venues in Lumberton

Sports has been, AND STILL IS, making an impact on the lives of the many eager sports-minded people in Lumberton and Robeson County, neighboring counties and states.  Some athletes that left our community and still call Lumberton and Robeson County home are Ruffin McNeill, Coach at N C State University, Donnell Thompson, a professional football player, Tim Worley, a professional football player, William McGirt, a PGA Touring Golf Pro, Brad Allen, a national football league referee, just to name a few.

Congratulations to the Lumberton High School Pirates Basketball Team!  For the first time in men’s basketball history at Lumberton High School, the 2019-2020 Pirates Basketball Team, earned the title of NC High School Athletic Association Regional Champions!  Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines prevented the two teams from playing the championship game, so the Lumberton Pirates team was named Co-Champions of the grand champion’s tournament .  In our hearts, they are the Champions!
