Sandra Warren – Visiting Author Series
October 19 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
The Robeson County Public Library invites you to meet Sandra Warren, visiting author, as she presents a reading from her book, “We Bought a World War II Bomber”.
Sandra Warren has published works in multiple genres including WWII non-fiction, historical fiction, gifted education, parenting, educational, children’s , military memoirs, poetry and screenplays. She has attended Book’Em as a visiting author throughout the years.
During 1943, in an effort to help pay for WWII, junior and senior high students, from one Michigan school, participated in the U.S. Government sponsored “Buy A Bomber,” program, initiating war bond sales of $375K, earning the right to buy a B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber, name it, dedicate it at a ceremony at the local airport and watch it fly off to war. For years, alumni wondered, “What happened to our bomber?” It would take 72-years before the mystery would be solved. In this unique presentation, Sandra Warren will share how the bomber was found, what role it played in the war, and how The Blue Ridge Parkway is involved.
The event is free and open to the public.
