Hillsborough, North Carolina author, Edward Di Gangi, will appear at Shane and Lee Books, 219 N. Elm Street in Lumberton on Saturday, March 23, from 11:00 am to 3:00pm. His presentation, “A Son’s Search – A Mother’s Journey,” describes his late-adulthood search for the woman who had placed him for adoption at the time of his birth. Before his presentation, he will screen the 1944 Hollywood musical, Lady Let’s Dance, in which his mother appeared early in her professional career.

The unexpected discoveries Di Gangi made during the course of his journey led to the writing of his book, The Gift Best Given: A Memoir which he describes as “a story of adoption, search, discovery and reunion set against a backdrop of the glamorous ice skating spectaculars of the 1940s.” The presentation will be of interest to those pursuing family history and genealogy, the writing of memoir and those with adoption in their family tree.

Copies of The Gift Best Given will be available for purchase for the author to sign following the movie and after his presentation.
