On Stage for Youth Series: Chicken Dance

Every barnyard has its bully! But two of the barnyard’s chickens, Marge and Lola, will not stand idly by. ArtsPower’s musical portrays the colorful story of these two barnyard chickens on a mission to win the barnyard talent contest first prize of two tickets to see the great Elvis Poultry in concert! But first, they must present a performance that will score higher than a flock of very talented ducks, led by Mac who loves to play the bully. Can Marge and Lola face their challengers, against all odds, and win the talent contest? Educational programs that bring the classroom to the stage! Please call the box office to make your reservations. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. Please provide the name of the school, contact person and number of students and chaperones. One chaperone ticket is complimentary with the purchase of ten student tickets. Broadway and More Series: 9th Annual Holiday Extravaganza

Celebrate the holidays with a musical extravaganza that puts the talents of the many UNCP performing groups, students and faculty on full display. Virtually all of the university’s ensembles and choirs will gather to perform uplifting renditions of holiday favorites. This family-friendly event also features a fun sing-along of well-known Christmas carols. Come early and catch the “Tuba Christmas” mini-concert at 7:30 p.m. in front of GPAC. Proceeds from this concert will go to support music scholarships. Get your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations off to an early, and musical, start with this special concert by performers straight from Ireland.  The Young Irelanders comprises eight sensational performers who have Irish traditional music, song and dance running through their veins. Although still in their 20’s and 30’s, these performers have achieved more than most people would aspire to in a lifetime. Between them they have performed for many heads of state, Presidents of Ireland, US Presidents, the Queen of England, the President of China, Prince Albert of Monaco, Empress Mchiko of Japan, performed at Radio City Music Hall, the Great Hall of the People in China, Kremlin State Palace in Moscow, the US Capitol Building, Fox Theatre in Detroit and the Pantages Theatre in L.A . The artists have also toured as lead performers with Riverdance and Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, been soloists on PBS Specials, shared the stage with Bono, and have collaborated with Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) and Sting (The Police).
