Patriot Nations: Native Americans in Our Nation’s Armed Forces

Patriot Nations: Native Americans in Our Nation’s Armed Forces tells the remarkable history of the brave American Indian and Alaska Native men and women who served in the United States military.  Native peoples have participated in every major US military encounter from the Revolutionary War to today’s conflicts in the Middle East, serving at a higher rate in proportions to their population than any other ethnic group.  Please visit the Lumbee Tribe's Veteran Resource Center at 204 West 3rd Street, Pembroke, NC.  The exhibit will be on display from April 17, 2017 through July 31, 2017, 8 am to 5 pm.  This event is open to the public. “Patchwork of the Past” Exhibit

Robeson County History Museum's quilting exhibit. Featuring quilts in every room of the museum, owned and/or installed by the women of the Lumber River Quilter’s Guild. To see how scraps of cloth become folk art, a visit to the museum is in order. Many local quilts are on display. Some are heirlooms, and some contemporary and creative examples, such as the “Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar,” a take on the famous children’s book by Vickie Locklear, and “Christmas” by Cappy Kreminski. The exhibit is an education in quilting. Samples of standard quilting squares are on display. These include: Jacob’s Ladder, Bear’s Paw, Log Cabin, Monkey Wrench, Wagon Wheel, Crossroads, Basket, North Star and more. The Robeson County History Museum is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon and Sundays 2 to 4 p.m. If you would like to attend outside of these hours, we recommend that you call ahead and schedule an appointment - the museum is always happy to serve. If you are interested in borrowing money for your poultry farm, then this is the workshop for you. As a farmer, FSA is often the best lender for you. However, the process of applying for FSA loans can be confusing. RAFI & FSA are holding a workshop to answer any questions you may have about FSA financing. Topics covered will include: types of FSA loans available, preparing your application, developing income projections, the application process, managing your loan, debt restructuring & default, and more. ANNUAL LUMBER RIVER DAY FESTIVAL

Come out to the park for a day of family fun and activities as the park celebrates its 8th Annual Lumber River Day Festival on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017.  The festival will go from 9am-2pm.  Come out and see some beautifully restored antique tractors and listen to some great bluegrass music.  Learn about the animals along the Lumber River from the exhibitors including Wildlife Action and the USDA exhibit.  There will be free canoe rides all day long, along with many activities for the kids including a casting contest, pony rides, miniature train rides, and bouncy house and slide in a new inside house.  There will be food available for lunch and snacks along with ice cream and frozen treats to tame the heat or you can bring a picnic lunch.
