Celebration of the Lumbee Indians. Traditional Native American Indian food, arts, crafts, music and dance. Dance and drum competition. This year: Living History Exhibit and Stickball Games. 2018 Lumbee Powwow: Dance of the Spring Moon

This annual powwow event will feature intertribal dancing; dance contests for Men & Women Golden Age and Adult Categories.  Must have Tribal Identification (State/Federal) to participate in dance Contests.  Grand Entries will take place on Friday - 7:00pm; Saturday-Noon and 7:00pm; Sunday - 1:00pm. Prize money offered to the winners of each category:  1st  - $1000; 2nd $700; 3rd - $400.  Teen Categories:   1st – $500; 2nd – $300; 3rd – $100.  Boys and Girls Categories:  1st - $200; 2nd - $100; 3rd - $75.  Drum Contest:  1st – $8000; 2nd $6000; 3rd $4000; 4th - $2000.  Featured Specials:  Men’s Eastern Woodland;  Smoke Dance.  2018 Head Staff:  Host Drum – WarPaint; Head Male Dancer – Jon Morgan Clark;  Head Female Dancer – Satarah Lewis;  Head Drum Judge – Brock Jacobs;  Head Dance Judge – Terry White; Emcee – Sandon Jacobs & JD Moore; Arena Director – Brad Locklear.  Host Hotels:  Holiday Inn Express – 910-521-1311; Fairfield Inn – 910-739-8444; Atkinson Inn & Suites – 910-674-3185; Comfort Suites – 910-739-8800; and please ask for the Powwow Rate. The outdoor drama is returning to its roots, where it began 40 years ago.  This summer, audiences will enjoy the play under the stars at the historic Adolph Dial Amphitheater at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center.   The play will feature live musical performances by local artists of the play's original songs composed by the late Willie French Lowery.   Tickets may be purchased at UNC Pembroke's Givens Performing Arts Center box office or on line.
