Join Lumber River State Park and Audubon North Carolina on July 30, for a spectacular canoe trip through Lumber River State Park. This 5 hour float trip carries participants through majestic cypress swamp forests. This is important breeding habitat for over two dozen species of neo-tropical, migratory songbirds and year-round home to barred owls, great blue herons, river otters and an assortment of freshwater turtles including softshell turtle. Lumber River State Park and Audubon staff will be along to offer narrative about the Lumber River’s natural history and cultural heritage. We will be meeting at Princess Ann Access Area at 9:00 am. In partnership with the Robeson County Public Library, these popular films are geared toward younger audiences in the morning and teen audiences in the afternoon but are open to all. Lumber River State Park is offering a free canoe program at Luther Britt Park, in Lumberton. This will be an easy paddle around the lake. Rangers will be at Luther Britt Park from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Rangers will be there for help. Come out and bring the kids for a fun paddle before school starts back. Following last year's sold-out performance at the Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater, the 6th ANNUAL WKML Singer-Songwriter Showcase will again be held at the theater. Tickets are $30 VIP and $15 general seating. VIP tickets include pre-show dinner with the performers at Adelio's as well as special 5:45-6:15pm access to the theater. $15 general seating will be seated starting at 6:15pm.
