Annual Native American Summer Art Show & Sale

The annual Summer Show and Sale is on display at UNC Pembroke’s Museum of the Southeast American Indian through mid-September. The show opened on July 4 during Lumbee Homecoming. The show features 19 American Indian artists and their paintings, quilts, textiles, stone and woodcarving and beadwork. Featured artists include Jessica Clark, DeLora Cummings, Clyde Jacobs, Alceon Jones, Hatty Miller, Dennis Wilkins and more. A collection of stark sculptures by Ronald Gonzalez is on display at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke until Sept. 24. A former artist-in-residence at Cornell University, Gonzalez blends found objects, charcoal and wax in his art. His work incorporates themes of “dread, irony and death,” according to a press release.
